Brian D. Rosenthal, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. is board certified in urology and urologic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pennsylvania and active on the medical staffs at Mercy Suburban Hospital, Montgomery Hospital, Abington Health/ Lansdale Hospital, and Phoenixville Hospital. He is Chief of Urology and Urologic Surgery at Mercy Suburban Hospital. He is a member of multiple organizations including the American Urological Association and The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Rosenthal was raised in Springfield Township, Montgomery County where he attended Springfield High School. He obtained a bachelors degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He then attended Medical School and completed his internship at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his General Surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center followed by his urology residency at PCOM and Albert Einstein Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. During his residency, Dr. Rosenthal also spent time at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he gained additional training in Urologic Oncology and Pediatric Urology respectively.
Dr. Rosenthal has presented at national meetings and is the author of multiple papers in peer reviewed journals. He has received many awards including The Pfizer Scholars in Urology award for his excellence in Urology. He serves on multiple speaker bureaus where he lectures on various urologic topics to other physicians. He has a special interest in Robotics and minimally invasive urologic surgery for tumors of the kidney, ureter, and prostate as well as non-malignant urologic diseases. He is a certified instructor and proctor in robotic surgery for Intuitive Surgical, Inc. He performed the first Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy at Chestnut Hill Hospital on the daVinci Robotic system. Dr. Rosenthal is one of the only urologists in the area that performs in office laser prostate surgery for benign enlargement of the prostate.
Dr. Rosenthal has been with Urologic Associates of Montgomery county since 2004. He evaluates and treats male and female patients with all urologic problems and diseases. He sees patients Monday through Friday and is available by appointment for both routine and urgent issues. Dr. Rosenthal was named as one of Philadelphia Magazine's "Top Doctors" for 2012. He is one of only 27 urologists in the Philadelphia region to receive this prestigious honor.
He was recently appointed as Co-Director of Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery at Mercy Suburban Hospital.
Dr. Rosenthal co-authored an article in the April 2012 edition of the Canadian Journal of Urology entitled "Photosensitive Vaporization of the Prostate in Office and Outpatient Settings." Dr. Rosenthal has again been named "Top Doctor" by Main Line Today Magazine for 2011. He also received this recognition in 2010.
