Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q.  What is Academic Urology?

Academic Urology is the largest medical practice of Urologists in Pennsylvania.  It consists of five professional divisions with twelve locations serving suburban Philadelphia from the Delaware State line to Central Montgomery County.  As of this writing we are 28 doctors with multiple Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practioners, Technologist and support staff.   If you are our patient, then your Urology physician is a doctor at one of these divisions.

Q.  Why didn't I know my Urologist was connected to Academic Urology?

After more than 2 years of planning, Academic Urology is came into existence in 2007.  Its founding doctors have closed their former businesses and have joined in their efforts to deliver better patient care by creating this one, more effective medical practice.  Your doctor has been working diligently for this to happen and now can start talking freely about it.
So far, Academic Urology has already helped your doctor to deliver better care to you by attracting qualifed personnel and slow the exodus of Urologist from the State. More improvements are coming soon.  For instance, Academic is creating both a pathology lab and a radiation center to speed the diagnosis and treatment of our cancer patients.  Academic has been able to partner with area hospital to bring the latest technology of surgical robotics to the operating room and as fellowship trained experts in laparoscopic robotic radical prostatectomy.  There are plans for research, lithotripsy, incontinence center, surgicenter and more at a centrally located brand new facility.  We have even instituted new computer software to help reduce treatment conflicts and billing issues with your insurance companies.
