Ilia Zeltser, M.D.


Dr. Zeltser received his bachelor's of science degree, Suma Cum Laude, from Brooklyn College and his medical degree with Distinction in Research from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed both his general surgery and urology residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital , in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . He then completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive/Robotic Urologic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas , where he also served as Instructor in Urology.

Dr. Zeltser is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in minimally invasive urologic surgery. His clinical and research interests are in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for the cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, testis and adrenal gland. He has an extensive expertise in robotic (DaVinci) prostatectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer. He is one of a very few urologists in the country who perform laparoscopic /robotic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer and radical cystectomy and urinary reconstruction for bladder cancer completely laparoscopically. His other clinical interests are in complex robotic reconstructive surgery and single port laparoscopic surgery. In fact, Dr. Zeltser was part of the team that performed the world’s first single port laparoscopic nephrectomy in a porcine model.

Dr. Zeltser has authored multiple articles and book chapters on minimally invasive urologic surgery and serves as a Reviewer for several peer-reviewed urology journals. Currently Dr. Zeltser serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology at Thomas Jefferson University and is actively involved in teaching of Urology residents, medical students and practicing urologists. He is a recipient of many honors and awards and received prestigious American Foundation for Urologic Disease (AFUD) Scholarship. In 2011 he was named Top Doc by US News and World Report Magazine as well as Main Line Today Magazine.
