Academic Urology Physician Co-authors Article on Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate

Brian D. Rosenthal, DO, a member of Academic Urology, co-authored an article in the April 2012 edition of the Canadian Journal of Urology entitled Photoselective Vaporization of the prostate in office and outpatient settings.

The article reported on the efficacy of the Evolve laser system in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlargement of the prostate that can cause a variety of symptoms including difficult urination or urinary tract infections. Dr. Rosenthal’s article, co-written with Joseph V. DiTrolio, MD, of the UMDNJ/New Jersey Medical School, looked at the results of 180 men who underwent BPH treatment using the laser and noted a variety of clinical benefits, including high success in correcting BPH symptoms, reduced bleeding, and reduced cost since the procedure can be successfully performed in an office setting. The entire article can be read HERE.
